Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TrashVPN ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the TrashVPN iOS application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you acknowledge that we process information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

TrashVPN is a VPN application. The app may contact our backend servers to request encrypted node data, check node usage status, record limited app activity statistics, fetch advertisements, upload custom advertisement clicks, check for app updates, and upload crash or error diagnostics through Sentry.

We do not require you to create an account with a name, email address, or password to use the app.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Client Identifier

The app uses a locally generated client identifier, currently in a format such as:

iOS-10000-uuid

This identifier may be sent to our backend when the app requests nodes, records a user visit, requests advertising configuration, or uploads a custom advertisement click.

We use this identifier to support app functionality, basic daily user statistics, abuse prevention, ad configuration, and service maintenance.

2.2 Public Key and Encrypted Node Delivery

The app may generate or use cryptographic keys to request encrypted VPN node data from our backend. The backend may receive a public key so it can encrypt node data for the app.

The app stores node data and generated VPN configuration data locally. Sensitive node data is intended to be stored in encrypted form where supported by the app.

2.3 VPN Node and Account Usage Information

The backend may return encrypted account-related metadata, such as an account identifier associated with an allocated node group. The app may use that account identifier to request usage information from our backend, such as whether a node group has exceeded a usage threshold.

This usage information is used to decide whether the app should synchronize fresh nodes. It is not intended to identify you personally.

2.4 App Visit and Update Information

The app may contact our backend to:

  • Record a limited app visit event using the client identifier.
  • Check whether a newer app version is available.
  • Receive version code, version name, changelog, release date, App Store URI, App Store web URL, and whether an update is required.

2.5 Advertising Information

The app may request custom advertisement configuration from our backend using the client identifier.

If you click a custom advertisement, the app may upload:

  • Advertisement ID.
  • Client identifier.
  • Click timestamp.

The app may also display Google AdMob ads. Google and its partners may process device information, advertising identifiers, approximate location, interaction data, diagnostics, and other information according to their own policies and SDK behavior.

You can learn more about Google advertising practices at:

https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

2.6 Device, Network, and Server Logs

When the app communicates with our backend, standard server logs or infrastructure logs may process technical information such as IP address, request time, endpoint, response status, user agent, and error information.

These logs are used for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, reliability, and service operations.

2.7 Local App Data

The app may store information locally on your device, including:

  • Encrypted node snapshots and generated VPN configuration sets.
  • Selected node and route mode.
  • App settings.
  • Latency test results.
  • Ad display counters and app runtime state.
  • Update information, including dismissed optional update state.
  • Account usage check state.

This local data is used to operate the app, reduce unnecessary network requests, preserve user preferences, and improve launch behavior.

2.8 Crash Reports and Error Diagnostics

The iOS app uses Sentry to help us detect crashes, runtime errors, startup failures, and other stability problems. When an error or crash occurs, Sentry may receive diagnostic information such as:

  • Crash logs, exception names, stack traces, thread information, and error messages.
  • App version, build number, release information, and operating system version.
  • Device model, device family, memory state, performance-related diagnostic data, and app runtime state.
  • Timestamp, session or event identifiers, and technical context needed to reproduce or group errors.
  • Network-related diagnostic context, such as connectivity state or request error information, where relevant to the crash or error.

Crash reports are used to identify bugs, prioritize fixes, improve app stability, and protect service reliability. They are not intended to collect VPN browsing history, message content, account passwords, payment information, or the contents of websites you visit.

Because crash logs are generated from real app execution, they may sometimes include technical values, configuration states, URLs of our own backend endpoints, or other contextual information involved in an error. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information into feedback fields or logs unless it is necessary for support.

Sentry processes crash and diagnostic information according to its own privacy practices. You can learn more at: https://sentry.io/privacy/

2.9 Information You Provide Voluntarily

If you contact us, send feedback, share diagnostic logs, or report an issue, we may process the information you choose to provide.

Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for support.

3. VPN Traffic

The Service routes network traffic through VPN nodes when the VPN is connected.

We do not intentionally use our backend APIs to store a history of the websites you visit through the VPN. However, VPN operation requires network traffic to be processed by VPN infrastructure, operating system networking components, DNS resolvers, hosting providers, and other network intermediaries as needed to deliver connectivity.

We cannot control the privacy practices of every network, website, app, DNS provider, hosting provider, advertising network, or third-party service you access through the VPN.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide VPN node synchronization and connectivity features.
  • Generate and deliver encrypted node configuration data.
  • Detect node quota or usage issues and refresh nodes when needed.
  • Remember settings and selected nodes.
  • Run latency tests and display latency results.
  • Display custom and AdMob advertisements.
  • Record custom advertisement clicks.
  • Check for app updates and display update notices.
  • Maintain app reliability, security, and abuse prevention.
  • Troubleshoot bugs, analyze crash reports, fix stability issues, and improve the Service.

5. Legal and Safety Purposes

We may process or disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request.
  • Enforce our Terms of Use.
  • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, security issues, or technical problems.
  • Protect the rights, safety, and property of users, us, or third parties.

6. Sharing of Information

We may share information with:

  • Hosting providers, backend infrastructure providers, DNS providers, CDNs, and network service providers.
  • Analytics, advertising, crash reporting, and monetization partners, including Google AdMob and Sentry.
  • App distribution platforms, such as Apple App Store, when you open update links.
  • Advertisers or third-party websites when you click their links.
  • Service providers that help us operate, secure, or support the Service.
  • Authorities or third parties when required by law or necessary for safety and enforcement.

We do not sell your name or email address because the app does not require you to provide them.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may include links to third-party websites, apps, advertisements, App Store pages, Telegram, YouTube, GitHub, or other external services.

The Service may also use third-party SDKs or services, including Google AdMob for advertising and Sentry for crash reporting and error monitoring.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
